Have you ever wondered if you’re doing everything you can to maximize your gas mileage?
Long gone are the days when gas was 50 cents a gallon. Also long gone are the days when people could choose to not own a car because life moved slower and public transportation and/or walking worked just fine for almost everybody. These days, it’s a necessity for most people to own a car and with the ever changing gas prices, it would help us all to know exactly how we can maximize our petrol usage. So without further ado, here are a few ways you can make sure you’re getting the most out of your gas tank.
1. Slow Down
We could all use a reminder to slow down and enjoy the drive. Rushing around and putting pedal to the medal is one way to use up your gas quickly.
2. Keep Your Car as Light as Possible
Remove any heavy luggage or items that may be weighing your car down unnecessarily. Your car will use more fuel having to work hard to carry all that extra weight.
3. Make sure your tires are inflated to the correct pressure
Inflating your tires to the correct pressure is one of the easiest ways to optimize your gas mileage. Many people neglect to pay much attention to this aspect of caring for their car. As long as it’s running and getting us from point A to point B, it’s easy to forget to make sure the tires are filled correctly. Doing this will make your car and wallet happy in the long run.
4. Don’t Forget to Replace Your Air Filter
Cleaning or replacing your air filter can help immensely to improve your car’s efficiency. If the air filter is dirty and clogged up, your car’s engine will have to work so much harder to draw air thus using up more gas.
