I'VE GOT THE TITLE IN FRONT OF ME, NOW WHERE DO I SIGN?

Release ownership by signing on 4 one on the back of the title. If the vehicle is, or was financed, the lienholder’s name appears in the legal owner section and their release with counter signature is required on line 2, in the lien of release section, on the front of the title.

In order to release the liability of your vehicle you will need to bring the vehicle's plates and registration card to a DMV office. Then, you'll receive a signed cancellation form from the DMV indicating the date the plates were canceled. Be sure to keep this receipt for your records.

I'm the registered owner but I can't find my title:

The registered owner of the vehicle can apply for a duplicate certificate of title if the original has been lost, stolen, misplaced or destroyed. You can only apply for a duplicate title at the Title Office, Monday through Friday at the Pawtucket DMV, located at 100 Main Street, Pawtucket and be sure to bring the $51 for the duplicate title fee.

If the vehicle is 10 or more model years and you are not able to obtain a negotiable title or the paperwork for a duplicate title, the vehicle can be sold with a Bill of Sale. You'll need a letter, on Provider letterhead,
requesting the vehicle be scheduled for sale.

If you want to donate your vehicle, but you don't have the title and you have no wish to obtain a duplicate title, we can process the duplicate title for you with your DMV. We'll need you to fill out the forms below and hold them until the tow agent comes to pickup the vehicle.

Two notarized Powers of Attorney signed by all owners listed on the title (one to apply for the duplicate title and one to sign the duplicate title when it is received from the DMV).

The owner’s date of birth.

A copy of the vehicle’s registration or the vehicle’s license plate number.

Lien Release (if applicable).

The owner of the vehicle is deceased:

In the case of the death of an owner with the presence of a will: The transfer of ownership of the vehicle can be accomplished with a properly signed title by the named administrator/executor of the estate and a copy of the certificate of appointment issued by the court to the named administrator/executor of the deceased’s estate.

In the case of a deceased owner without the presence of a will: The administrator/executor for the deceased’s estate is established by the probate court. We will need a properly endorsed title by the administrator/executor of the deceased’s estate and a copy of the certificate of appointment issued by the probate court to the named administrator/executor of the deceased’s estate.

The vehicle was abandoned on my property:

We can only pick up an abandoned vehicle if we are able to obtain a signature from the last registered owner.
