New Hampshire Title Processing Information

I'VE GOT THE TITLE IN FRONT OF ME, NOW WHERE DO I SIGN?

Release ownership by signing on line 4, off to the right on the back of the title. If there is an active lien on the vehicle the lien holder must sign and date the lien release section on the front of the title. The lien release must include the date signature of the authorized agent, and the agent's title.

There is no mandatory action required on your part to release the liability of the vehicle. However, it is a good idea to have the buyer fill out the bill of sale and keep a copy of it in your personal records.

I'm the registered owner but I can't find my title:

If your title has been lost, stolen, mutilated, destroyed, countered, or has become illegible and you are the registered owner you can apply for a New Hampshire Application for Duplicate Certificate Of Title. This will allow you to obtain a new title. There will be a $25 duplicate title fee. If there is a lien on the vehicle you will need to have the lien holder sign the lien release and mail it along with the duplicate title form.

If you are not able to attain a negotiable title or the paperwork for a duplicate title, the vehicle can be sold for parts only. You would need a letter, on Provider letterhead, requesting the vehicle be sold for parts along with the last known owner’s name and address. We will notify the State prior to sale that the vehicle is being sold for parts and will no longer be eligible for titling. This will assure that a title will not be issued to this vehicle in the future.

If you want to donate your vehicle but you don't have the title and have no wish to obtain a duplicate title, we can handle the duplicate title process for you. You will need to fill out the forms below and hang on to them until the tow agent comes to pickup your vehicle.

Two notarized POAs signed by all owners (one to apply for the duplicate title and one to sign the duplicate title when it is received from the DMV).

An odometer disclosure (for vehicles less than 10 model years; can be part of the POA or separate).

Lien Release (if applicable).

The owner of the vehicle is deceased:

In the case of the death of an owner with the presence of a will: The transfering of ownership of the vehicle can be accomplished with a properly signed title by the named administrator/executor of the estate and a copy of the certificate of appointment issued by the court to the named administrator/executor of the deceased’s estate.

In the case of a deceased owner without the presence of a will: The administrator/executor for the deceased’s estate is established by the probate court. We will need a properly endorsed title by the administrator/executor of the deceased’s estate and a copy of the certificate of appointment issued by the probate court to the named administrator/executor of the deceased’s estate.

The vehicle was abandoned on my property:

We can only pick up an abandoned vehicle if we are able to obtain a signature from the last registered owner.
